Only delusinal people would tell you your rich. Yes I have, and as a matter of fact I bought a 15>50 fellblade just the other day, know what I paid for it? 3k, chew on that.

Is this thread STILL open? Well... at least the flames have calmed down a little bit. On topic: Gold items (like all other high priced items in GW) are vanity items only. Ever since the faction system was introduced, there is no need to pay for gold max items, as the only other function they served was as a source of unlocks.

I can see how it'd only cost 3k. Fellblades are ugly. 15>50 is generally inferior to 15(Stance) as far as PvP is concerned. If the Fellblade came dyed green, you get the trifecta.

Just to avoid the flaming and returning to the orginal subject...

Some gold rares like max crystallines, sephis axes, etc... are still commanding super-high asking prices because no green equivalent has yet been located. The graphics model definitely affects asking prices just as much as the weapon's stats -- call it the "EYE-CANDY factor."

Yes, greens and weapon crafters now provide identically spec'd alternatives, but take these two weapons:

Both nearly identical, neither all that great, but the 2nd always draws many more complements during missions that the former. The questions is this: are you willing to shell out more plat just for the better looking costume jewelry?

Storm_Chaser - in answer to your post, gold items are cheaper bgecause they're easier to get. Why should anyone buy a "l33t g0dly" whatever for 50k+ when all they have to do is buy a couple of chest keys - about 5-10 should be adequate - and get a few gold items from there instead?

People aren't stupid. (well, most aren't. Some of your responses to the people who have answered your question don't exactly put you in a good light here...)

Anyway, Anet never intended for gold items to sell for 100k+. Those sorts of figures were from greedy traders. Didn't the fact that characters can only carry maximum amounts of 100k give you a clue? Or even the merchan't quotes?

Say what you like to others on this thread, troll and flame all you want. It don't change the fact that gold items are seriously devalued, and there's nothing you can do about it. In other words, YOU'RE SCREWED!!!!!!!!!!

or in language that you might actually understand:

Why someone needs 100k for a weapon eludes me.

So, to answer your question, they should have always been cheap IMO.

No one NEEDS a 100k weapon in this game... but if they want to spend all their time farming and trading and making money so they can buy a 100k weapon what skin is it off our noses? I'm not going to spend 100k for an item... but if it floats someone elses boat what freakin difference does it make to me or any of you for that matter. The advantage someone gets by having a perfect item over a slightly less than perfect item (which most of us have or could buy cheap) is almost imperceptible anyway. Let the farmers farm if that is the way they enjoy playing the game. I know that I don't want anyone taking away a part of the game that I enjoy and since the so-called perfect items really don't affect things that much why not just leave it alone and move on to things that AREN'T right in the game instead of spending our time talking about stuff like this that really don't make much difference.

Changing the max gold allowed on a character would only require a single variable update. I do hope ANET raises the max gold character to 1000k, since the current 100k limit only encourages multi-part trades, an open invitation to online scammers.

Supply and demand control general item values. You won't see 100k+ asking prices for any item unless there's a significant number of players out there willing to pay these amounts.

I haven't seen any real big dip in rare gold item pricing yet, but time will tell. Uber rares like perfect to near-perfect crystallines, sephis axes, etc... are still presently hitting the 1000k+ mark.
